THE GARDEN IS POETRY, 2022
Cyanotype prints and poetry
In an urbanized environment, it is easy to go through our daily tasks without a thought to the fact that us humans only exist in relation to land and its expressions. As we come in conscious contact with the land, we are reminded that these relations can be significantly deeper and more meaningful. Each plant alive is a complete being with unique characteristics, and beyond that, an autonomous presence in the environment. In this project, I set out to get to know a few of them which were occurring near me, not only through identification and taxonomical research, but also through aesthetic engagement. I am capturing fragments of their bodies through cyanotype prints to showcase their material presence in a singular and poetic way. I am also engaging with their incorporeal presence through short poems which honor their existence in connection to my own affective experience.
